Safeguarding Adults
Course information
Our Safeguarding courses have been created because, first and foremost, each and every one of us has basic human rights. Chief among these is the right to be healthy, happy and treated well, regardless of race, age, gender or location. When these rights are abused in some way it’s wrong, and it is therefore vital that guidelines, policies and procedures are followed to enable everyone, without exception to live a life in which these basic values and rights are maintained and upheld.
This course is aimed at anyone who has a duty of care for, or comes into contact with, adults in need of care and support, either as a paid professional or a volunteer.
This includes, but isn’t limited to, those that work in domiciliary care, the NHS, community centres, prisons or with a family member at home, and sets out the roles and responsibilities everyone must undertake to protect an adult’s right to live in safety, free from abuse and neglect. You and the organisation you work for must take appropriate and proportional measures necessary for the protection of adults in your care, while still ensuring they are supported and empowered to have control over how they want to live their lives and this course can bring you one step closer to being able to do this.
This means that whatever the circumstance, you and the organisation you work for must take appropriate and proportional measures necessary for the protection of adults in your care, while still ensuring they are supported and empowered to have control over how they want to live their lives.
During this course you will hear many facts, figures and details surrounding the risk to adults in need of care and support, the types of abuse suffered and key safeguarding legislation put in place to minimise the abuse of adults with care and support needs. By the end of this course, you will have learned a better understanding of safeguarding principles and be able to apply them to your role.
This includes being able to define the key terminology in relation to safeguarding; identify the principle laws that relate to safeguarding and why they have been put in place to minimise abuse; recognise and respond to the ten types of abuse suffered by vulnerable adults; identify and report concerns of abuse or neglect; describe your role, responsibilities and boundaries; ensure people are supported and encouraged to make their own decisions and give informed consent, and finally manage the environment to minimise the risk of abuse.

Safeguarding Children
Course information
Our Safeguarding courses have been created because, first and foremost, each and every one of us has basic human rights. Chief among these is the right to be healthy, happy and treated well, regardless of race, age, gender or location. When these rights are abused in some way it’s wrong, and it is therefore vital that guidelines, policies and procedures are followed to enable everyone, without exception to live a life in which these basic values and rights are maintained and upheld.
Everyone, regardless of their age, gender, religion, ethnicity or background has the right to a healthy, happy life. Safeguarding is about minimising and managing the risks to vulnerable individuals.
This course, ‘Safeguarding Children’, is aimed at anyone who has a duty of care for, or comes into contact with children in their chosen profession.
Although most children are brought up in loving, nurturing environments and grow up to lead happy lives, the subject has to be discussed in order to better protect those children that need it most.
During this course you will hear many facts, figures and details surrounding the risk to children, the types of abuse suffered, how to recognise the signs of abuse and key safeguarding legislations put in place to minimise the abuse of children. Once you are able to recognise the signs of possible abuse, and know the steps you should take if you suspect it you will be better able to protect the children in your care.

Asbestos Awareness for Architects and Designers
Course information
Asbestos is probably the most dangerous building material ever used. Every year thousands of people fall ill and die because of exposure to asbestos and it was widely used by the construction industry right up until the year 2000.
The Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) apply to employers, employees, self-employed persons and duty holders and cover all work with asbestos containing materials. Regulation 10 of CAR states that every employer must ensure that adequate information, instruction and training is given to employees who are liable to be exposed to asbestos. This includes maintenance workers and others who may come into contact with or disturb asbestos.
As well as informing candidates about the risks of working with asbestos, the course will deliver content to help them recognise asbestos containing materials, make them aware of where it was used, include steps they can take to minimise the risks and discuss the legislation that applies to working with asbestos.
Each module is rounded off with several multiple-choice questions, candidates are required to get 100% on these tests to pass the course. They have the opportunity to review all the answers at the end of each module before final submission and will be given 3 attempts to achieve the required result.
Target Audience
The Asbestos Awareness for Architects and Designers course covers the same subjects as our Asbestos Awareness course with an additional module aimed specifically at architects and designers working with buildings that may contain asbestos. It provides information about the legislation governing asbestos in work and outlines the responsibilities of architects and designers.
Advantages
Being aware of the products that are likely to contain asbestos and the risks associated with them give workers and supervisors the information they need to avoid work that may disturb asbestos. The course is approved by leading industry bodies ROSPA and the IATP.
Online training is flexible, efficient and cost effective meaning the candidate can progress through the modules at their own pace and in their own time, so they can fit the training in around their work and personal life.
Further Progression
There are a wide range of other health and safety courses available in the eLearning suite that are relevant to the same industries as these courses.

Wutan Coronavirus outbreak – keep safe and stop the spread!
Wutan Coronavirus has hit the headlines in the past few weeks, and has caused devastating effects in areas of China such as Wutan which has been hit the hardest with this new and deadly virus strain.
Yesterday, the World Health Organisation (WHO)
declared the Coronavirus as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern at level
4 – meaning that the worldwide public have been warned against
travelling to China, and those in affected Chinese areas are stranded in the
infectious conditions. Reports today claim that two people in the UK are now
affected by the virus.
In the past week there have been traces of the
virus found in over 18 countries among 98 people – meaning that this deadly
virus has the potential to travel all over the world and cause a devastating
effect across the entire globe.
The most dangerous thing about global viruses
is their ability to spread like wildfire – and it is important for us to play
our part in minimising the devastating effects of this disease in its early
stages.
The best course of action for the average
person is simply to avoid spreading the disease further, as Coronavirus is
transmitted via respiratory droplets which are produced when a person coughs or
sneezes.
We have a variety of items on our Ajuda shop which are designed to limit the transmission of these types of viruses – which are easy to order and high quality for a reasonable price. Please note all orders will include VAT, and there’s also a £10 postage charge.

Time to change, Time To Talk day 2020
Nowadays, around 1 in 4 people experience mental health problems. That is a good enough reason to end the stigma around it. Join us and support Time To Talk Day on 6th February 2020. Help us fight the discrimination of people touched by mental illness!
What it is all about?
This day was created to raise awareness about the mental health problems and help to end the stigma around this topic. Many people claim that that stigma and discrimination are as damaging, or more damaging, than the symptoms of their mental health problem. This year we use ‘Would you rather?’ game to spread the importance of conversations about the mental health. By getting people talk about it we can help break down stereotypes connected with the issue that affects us all. This day is a perfect opportunity to gather around your family and friends and encourage them to talk about their problems.
How can you help?
Did you ever think that chatting with a person who suffers from a mental illness can actually save a life? If not, it is time for you to do something about it because you can change someone’s life with a short conversation. Just be there for them. Let them talk and you just listen to them.
It is often the thing that they need the most to feel valued and cared about. They need you to listen to them and not to rush them. Let them finish. Then ask some additional question to better understand how they are feeling. Help them get rid off the burden they were carrying for this whole time.
After having a conversation, try to signpost them to the closest organisation which can help them. There are some examples of support services:
- Call 116 123 free helpline – open 24/7
- Email jo@samaritans.org – with response time of 24 hours
- Go to the NHS website to find the nearest Mental Health Support Service https://www.nhs.uk/service-search/other-services/Mental%20health%20support/LocationSearch/330
- In more serious/dangerous cases make sure that they go to their GP
Ajuda for mental health
The topic of mental health is extremally important for our company as we focus on educating people to save lives. You can save lives not only by helping people with their physical problems but most importantly you can save lives by talking with people and listening to them. This way you can help them with more complicated psychological issues.
To highlight the importance of the mental health and to increase the awareness about this topic we created a separate full-day event. Mental Health & Wellbeing Show is taking place on 21st of May 2020 in Cardiff City Stadium. This is the show dedicated to mental health and aiming to promote positive mental health through open conversation, promoting awareness and sharing real-life experiences. Our seminar speakers focus on topics such as coping with mental illness, ways to promote positive mental health, and how to support people around you who are suffering with ill mental health. Apart from the seminars, there will also be an open exhibition with over 60 charities, organisations and companies promoting their helpful resources, services and initiatives all focused on supporting mental health and wellbeing.
Find out more about the event on our website: https://www.mhwshow.co.uk/
Make a change and contribute to Time To Talk Day. Help your family and friends and think about our show. Maybe it is a good occasion to buy them a ticket for one of our seminars?

CELEBRATING 10 YEARS!
We celebrated 10 years of Ajuda!
A very special milestone was hit in 2019, too, with Ajuda celebrating a whole 10 years in business! In this past decade we have trained over 60,000 people, developed an extensive catalogue of popular courses, and worked with some fantastic people and organisations over the years.
To celebrate, Ajuda had a 10 year party at the Copthorne Hotel in Cardiff which included a fantastic meal, entertainment and a charity auction.
The chosen charity for the event was the ABF Soldiers’ Charity, a charity that our director Dawn supports regularly.
We hope that the next 10 years will bring us just as much fun!

OVER £4,000 RAISED FOR CHARITY
The ABF Soldiers’ Charity is one very close to Dawn’s heart, and she regularly fundraises for them in a variety of different ways including her events. In September, Dawn took on another big challenge for ABF Soldiers’ charity – climbing Mount Toubkal in Morocco.
Standing at 4,167m, Mount Toubkal is the highest peak in the Atlas Mountains and the tallest mountain in North Africa.
Dawn took on the challenge accompanied by her husband, Ianto, who both served in the army for a combined total of 45 years.
Together they smashed the challenge, and also raised an amazing £4,132.33 for the charity.

Our annual Talking Mental Health Conference was officially launched on 10th October 2019, and welcomed over 120 delegates, 25 exhibitors and 7 speakers to Cardiff City Stadium for a day of inspirational talks and real-life experiences of dealing with mental illness. We are also preparing for our bigger Mental Health & Wellbeing Show which will also be held in Cardiff City Stadium, which will include over 50 exhibitors, 30 speakers and we already have over 400 people booked to attend!

Equality, Diversity & Discrimination
Course information
We’ve all heard and used the words ‘equality’ and ‘diversity’ before but what do they actually mean and how do they affect you as an employer or employee? Well if you take the words on their own they are actually quite different, equality is the state of being equal, especially in rights and opportunities. Diversity is the state of being different or varied. However these 2 things should not be seen as opposite to each other, after all people can be different but they still have the same rights. When it comes to places of work there is legislation in place to ensure that we all meet our responsibilities in relation to equality and diversity… And one way to make sure we meet these responsibilities is through training.
